Ebola is a dangerous and deadly virus in Liberia right now, at an epidemic stage. My heart is so heavy and deeply saddened for so many friends and family that are on the front lines of this deadly disease, and a few fighting for their lives as I write this. My 'Momma's' heart is worried about our precious Haven Children over there, all my amazing foster families and team, my Liberian brother and his family, and many pastors that I care deeply about. But...I am laying down those worries at the cross of our Savior, knowing that he holds each one of us in his hand.
When I was in Liberia all last week, we did a ton of Ebola awareness training and gave my moms strict instructions to follow, then prayed over each one for God to give a hedge of protection!
I spoke with my Program Coordinator, Josephus this morning, and he assured me that everything is good today, no one has any illness, and we have implemented a semi 'lock down' for each of our foster homes. Supplies will be delivered tomorrow, so there is no reason for leaving the homes except for small fresh food essentials that they might need. Sometimes these can be bought right in their own neighborhood, so we are hoping this limits any traveling and no contact with outsiders. We have also implemented a 'no visitors' rule, to limit other contact with people. There are a lot of protocols we have in place now that will help protect all our foster homes and team.
Last Friday, we gathered all the foster moms and Haven Children, and brought them all to the last training meeting for my week in Liberia. Not an easy task in the pouring heavy rain! All the children did so well! We celebrated our weeks end with chicken and rice for everyone!
